2011 Labor Day Fall Work Party

Sept. 2-Sept. 5
Robb and Charlie arrived on Thursday, Sept. 1.
Paul and Steve arrived on Friday, Sept. 2.
Unfortunately our New Member(Bob Seyler) could not join us on this trip due to his brother having hip replacement surgery.
Tommy and John Burket were unavailable.
Sept. 2---Upon arrival Friday we got right to work gathering wood to stock our new wood rack.  Robb had already found 2 trees that were down on the S70.  After some cuttin' and 2 trips back to camp, the rack was full!  The rest of the day was spent clearing the main log road on the S70 that went down to the Abby. By 4:00PM we were spent and went for a swim in the Abby.  Since we were out of "supplies" I offered up if everyone was willing to hang out a bit in the Abby, that I would make a quick run back to camp to gather up some more cold beverages, and a few snacks!  Within 30 minutes or so I was back with a cooler full of refreshments(beer, summer sausage, cheese, crackers, and the radio).  We later made our way back to camp for one of our popular dinner dishes(Venison Stuffed Green Peppers).  I put out my trail cam at the ladder stand on the N40 East Side to see what might be around.  The injury of the day was Steve getting attacked by a swarm of wasp at the wood pile. 2 of them got me pretty good in the chin and luckily I only had some swelling and numbness for the night.......

Sept.3(Sat)---The goal for the day was to get Robb's tree house and Paul's Spring Tree Stand area's cleared as well as work on clearing the Main Logging road down all the way down to the Trib.
Cleaned Logging Road till mid morning
At lunch sighted in guns as rain was to be moving in the rest of the trip from Tropical Storm Lee down in the northern Gulf.
Ended the afternoon clearing the rest of the Logging Road down to the Trib.  Found a LARGE tree down in the SMZ by the Jacuzzi.  Over all it seemed like there were quite a few trees down around the property since our last visit earlier in the year.
Went for another swim and had target practice. Found a deer crossing just south of the swim area in the Abby.  Caught fish AND Ate one.....  INJURY for the day was me slipping in my flipflops out of the trailer door way and taking a nice chunk of skin off my heal from the metal skirting......OUCH.

Sept. 4(Sun)---Charlie and I went to have lunch at Ruby's.  Paul and Robb stayed behind to work on their areas.  In afternon finished clearing Paul's spring area and set up 2 trail cam's that Paul wanted to leave for a few months.  Went down to Jacuzzi area and scouted trib down to Chuck's Nude Beach.
Late afternoon we took off on 4 wheelers and headed down to the arrow head fields for Paul and Steve's first Arrow Head Hunt.  Took Paul over to the Zorn Barn for his 1st visit as well as see the New additiona that John Mobley put on the barn.

Sept. 5(Mon)---This is the sad day that always comes on every trip........Time to head home.....
Everyone did some last clearings of hunting areas.  I gathered up my trail cam and found that I caught something on it(See Below)!

Our BIG Catch, with his little buddy, in our trap.

Enjoyin' our time together in the woods!

Here are Steve's Trail Cam Video's of his "catch".(Location is Tree Stand on SE corner of N40, looking north across Fire Trail at other property.

This looks to be a small Spiker with another deer following it from the Pine Tree to the left.(You need to enlarge this video to see if this is a Spiker AND to see the movement of the other deer)

This seems to be the deer from above, 2 minutes later, that was following the Spiker.(Again you need to enlarge the video and look into the brush by the Center Oak Tree to see the deer's butt walking away).
